Gunflint Lodge, in northern Minnesota, is a romantic resort with a great honeymoon package. Imagine yourself in your own private lakeside cabin with a cozy fireplace, a hot tub and all the comforts, combined with gourmet dining, and lots of fun activities. Your all inclusive dream honeymoon starts with appetizers and wine by your fireplace (a daily event), followed by a gourmet dinner in the lodge. Then, after your complimentary bottle of champagne, head back to your cabin for a relaxing hot tub or time in front of your fireplace. Breakfast can be delivered right to your cabin or taken in the dining room as you choose. Day activities include unlimited use of boats, motors, canoes and horseback riding. In addition the naturalists offer over 40 activities a week with hikes, cookouts, water excursions, animal searches, wolf howling and much more. Picnic lunches are packed if day trips are planned.

Gunflint Lodge is nestled into the woods on the south shore of Gunflint Lake, overlooking Canada to the north. This area is in a boreal forest north of the Laurentian Divide, so all the waters drain north to Hudson Bay. Up here, people are the visitors, and the natives are the moose, deer, beaver, eagles, and fox. The glaciers of the past scoured out deep lakes between high rocky ridges which gives the hiking trails many beautiful vistas. The lakes have lake trout, walleye, bass and northern for fun fishing.

Your honeymoon package at Gunflint comes three ways: First, and most popular, is to spend 4 to 7 nights at the lodge with an all inclusive package; secondly, start your package with an overnight at The Inn in Duluth (for those leaving the Twin Cites around mid-day on a relaxed schedule), and then drive on to Gunflint the next day for the balance of your honeymoon; and thirdly, fly into Duluth where we will have a van to meet you. On this package you spend your first night in Duluth and then we chauffeur you to Gunflint the next morning. We bring you back to the airport at the end of your honeymoon.

For those driving, Gunflint is about a 6 hour drive north from Minneapolis/St. Paul. After an interstate drive to Duluth (the first 3 hours), the continuing drive north along the beautiful north shore of Lake Superior offers scenic hikes to waterfalls and overlooks on the big lake. At the small historical fishing village of Grand Marais (2 hours north of Duluth), you turn inland on the Gunflint Trail- a forest highway leading you into the northwoods of Minnesota and the Boundary Waters Wilderness country. A 1 hour drive brings you to the lodge, but keep your eyes open for the moose that are frequently see.
